Network Configuration for Server/Client

Example of Network Hardware Configuration

2 D-Link Gigabit Switches
3 TP-Link Routers (We use Model TL-WR740N)
1 Server
2 Clients

Plug in the first switch, you can add internet to it on any port. Next run 3 Ethernet cables from this switch to the BLUE (WAN) Ports on the back of the TP-Links. Next connect 3 cables from the YELLOW (LAN) Ports to a second new Switch.

To set up the Client/Server configuration for the JB-199 III system you will need to set up some share/network settings. First on the Unit that will be acting as the server you will need to share the folder where the Karaoke Library is stored.

Open File Explorer and find the item/folder you'd like to share. Right-click on the item, then click Give access to > Choose a name or click Specific people.

Click the drop-down to choose someone to share the item with:
Named user: Choose another user account on this computer
Everyone: Share the item with any user on the network
Create a new user: Set up a new user account on the computer to share the item with.

When you've chosen the user or group to share with, click Add. For easiest configuration you can select “Everyone”, this is only recommended on a secure Network. Next you need to decide the permission, it needs to have the “Read” permission at the minimum. Click Share to make the changes you've selected, then click Done to close.

Next we will need to configure the “Network Discovery and Share” settings. You can access this by opening Control Panel and navigating to the “Network and Sharing Center”, then click on “Change advanced sharing settings”. There are three drop down's of settings here.

In the first drop-down “Private” please make sure Network discovery is turned on with automatic setup check-marked, also make sure that file and printer sharing is turned on. In the second drop-down “Guest or Public” you can apply the same settings if this is the Network type you chose for your PC.
In the third drop-down “128 bit encryption” should be selected, for the last option it is recommended to turn off password protected sharing to make the process easier. If you need this feature enabled be sure to write down the exact username and password of the Windows account that is hosting the library.

Next we need to make sure some essential Windows services are running properly. To begin press the “Windows” key on the keyboard, then type “services.msc”. Next locate the following 4 services and set the “Startup” type to “Automatic”.

- Function Discovery Provider Host
- Function Discovery Resource Publication
- SSDP Discovery
- UPnP Device Host
